Sunday School Fun!
Grace Church Sunday School invites all children ages 24 mos to 16 yrs to learn about the bible and faith through stories, art, play and social interaction.
Meet Ms. Elaine, Ms. Kate or Ms. Judy on Sundays during 10 AM service in our classrooms. We are in session almost every Sunday between September through June.
No sessions on Palm Sunday, Easter (children invited instead to join our Egg Hunt), Christmas Day
Our Sunday School started out this September with an enrollment of 15 children. Each week our attendance averages between 7 and 10 children.
Kate Wood teaches the older class and their age group is between the ages of 8 and 14. She is working with the children to memorize the Nicene Creed and to teach them what it means. She also reviews the seasons of the church and discusses their meanings with the kids and sometimes they do a project. Kate encourages them to follow the service in the prayer book and understand the different parts of the service. The class helps to give a base to the children for a time later in their lives when they are eligible for confirmation and also when they reach the age of 14 or have completed the 8th grade when they can attend St. Michael's Conference. Kate and her class occasionally join the younger class when there are special projects and events.
Judy Batashoff and Elaine Wood teach the younger children, ages 2 through 7. Judy and Elaine start out the year having the children make their own story booklets about Creation. They enjoy doing crafts inspired by the Christian calendar while listening to stories from the Children's Bible. The children enjoy question and answer and relating their own experiences and curiosity during class.
During the year Father Hatt holds special services specifically for the children. During baptismal services the children are invited to witness the baptism up close.
Right before Christmas the children enjoy a video about the Nativity and they present their Annual Christmas Pageant during Sunday mass.
At the end of the school year in June, we invite all to our Church School Family Picnic to enjoy food, fun games, prizes and ice cream.
